About NOBH

What is Hypnosis

Hypnosis, to some extent, is experienced by everyone; think daydreaming or car trance. Essentially it’s a state of consciousness marked by hyper focus, deep relaxation, and a change in brain wave function from normal alert beta waves to more calm, relaxed, and meditative alpha and theta waves.

Quite simply, Hypnosis takes advantage of this naturally occurring state. A Hypnotherapist uses specific relaxation techniques and suggestions to induce the hypnotic state for their clients to reinforce their intentions to live healthier lives and address negative reoccurring behavior and/or thought patterns.

The APA (American Psychological Association) recognizes hypnosis as a valid therapeutic intervention for addressing a range of mental health issues faced by women including stress reduction, managing anxiety and depression, improving sleep, reducing menopausal symptoms, and enhancing overall emotional well-being.

Training

Hypnosis – Lynne earned her hypnosis certification in 2014 from the NGH (National Guild of Hypnotist) one of the longest standing hypnosis and hypnosis certification organizations in the country. Since then, she has spent much of her continuing education on hypnosis techniques and treatments for trauma.

Healing Arts

Before her Hypnotherapy practice, she spent over twenty years training and working in the alternative medicine field. In the late 90s and early 2000s, she studied under well-known Turkish Sufi Healer, Levent Boulubasi, at the IM School for Healing Arts in New York City. The five-year program centered on Alexander Lowen’s Bioenergetic Theory, Barbara Brennen’s energetic healing techniques, and various Eastern Medicinal modalities and techniques. She has also studied celtic and first nations shamanic healing practices, including with the Four Wind Society and with the Q’Ero Incan Shamans in Peru.

HypnoBirthing

Lynne’s first experience with HypnoBirthing was actually with the birth of her own children. When she was pregnant with her oldest son in 2002, she was looking for a natural childbirth method that resonated with her healing arts background- HypnoBirthing was it! The birth of her son was a sweet and calm experience at a local Pennsylvania birth center. She again used HypnoBirthing for the birth of her twins at Cambridge hospital in 2006. The experience was quicker and had more activity in the room, but just as natural, pain free and joyful!

During Covid, after hearing about so many difficult and traumatic birth experiences and then learning about worsening maternal health data, Lynne was motivated get certified. She wanted to offer the HypnoBirthing method, so parents in her community could have amazing births like she had. There was only one organization she wanted to earn her certification from- the original Mickey Mongan HypnoBirthing program. She study with and was certified by the current president, Dr. Vivian Keeler.
